Members Making Their Mark all over the State

As we now have so many members racing across the state it is very difficult to keep up and of course I have missed some. For this I apologise. But in future please send me your results and I'll do a write up when we get the information.

Please make sure it is by 630pm on the Tuesday and I'll get something done in that week.

So. Firstly the one I forgot.

Belinda Taylor took her Production Sedan to Wangaratta for their charity event. Considering there was 22 cars and Belinda is quite new to the division she did a great job getting a 6,4 & 3 in her heats and brilliant job coming home in 6th position in the final.

A few members ventured to Swan Hill on December 30th.

Pauley Botheras and Kevin Apps ran in the Sports Sedans. Pauley had bad luck in the first two heats with flat tyres. He managed a 4th in the final heat and came home 6th in the final.

Kevin had 6,5 & 5 in his heats and came home 5th in the final.

Aaron Meakins and Lizzi Huckel ran in the Standard Saloons along with Daylesford regulars Austin and Lachie Chivers. Aaron had a 1,2 & 2 in his heats. Austin placed 3rd in the final. Lachie was 5th and Lizzi got better each time she hit the track.

Arthur Hutchinson ventured off to Portland to have another run in the Rhys Meakins lancer. It was a small field due to the National title being just a few days away. Arthur managed 3 heat wins. I’m the final he finished in second place after running the high line for one too many laps. But he was able to get some valuable experience in the new car before the Aussie Title.

Chris Hay, Ellen Vagg and Tim Hutchinson headed to Warrnambool for their annual Street Stock feature. Chris Hay had car problems and didn’t hit the track beyond heat 1. Tim Hutchinson and Ellen Vagg also headed to Mt Gambier in South Australia to support the National Junior Sedan Title. Ellen probably had a night she'd rather forget with bad luck in the heats and final coming home in 9th. Tim however finished the night 3rd overall in the final.

Whilst at Mt Gambier we can't leave out the mammoth effort that Arthur Hutchinson put in with the 77 car field. He did an amazing job getting 3,3,8 & 3 in his heats. The event was very cut throat and these results qualified him out of position 4 in B main A. He drove the wheels off of the car in the B main and finished 4th. Only the top 3 transferred into the A. So close Arthur. Well done.

Rhys Meakins had his Modified Sedan at Toowoomba for their TBar new year event. This saw the best of the best in Modifieds attend with $5000 to win. He should have stayed at home blowing a clutch in heat one on night one. After a quick change of clutch the next morning he managed to get a 6th in his first heat of the second night. Then a bent front arm sent him into the wall in the second heat. The decision was made not to continue and assess the damage properly before racing again. This car and the Street Stock are all ready for the Kings Royal event at Kingaroy on the Australia Day weekend.

Belinda Taylor ventured to Horsham. More laps in the car mean more craft. Each lap finds something that can be improved.

Dean Pedersen DDA 73 raced at Portland on 7th Jan King of the Ring for Standards. He came fourth in the first heat, won the next 3 heats and came 4th in the final.

Rick Stowe in the B97 had some teething issues at the start of the night. Heat 1 - DNF after pulling in on lap one with some issues Heat 2 - With a tight window to make it back out.. a few bits changed and tweaks Rick made it out to turn some laps Heat 3 - Fun heat race Heat 4 - With no power steering but finished Final - Came home in 6th after battling the car for 25 laps.

Apparently we had some members head to Rushworth and have a run including Blair Botheras. Blair had and 11, 8 &7in the heats and 6th in final of GV open juniors at Rushworth. Well done to Blair especially being the first time running the car in the opposite direction than he is used to.

Marlena Argent raced in the Open Crash and Bash division at Avalon Raceway. She managed to finish all her heats and the final. Well done Marlena you did a fantastic job.

Now please remember. This is just information I have gathered or have had sent to me. It’s correctness can’t be verified nor can I guarantee that I haven’t missed something or someone.

I’m not a journalist, just someone who’s silly enough to try this. Anyway. If you’ve been missed please send your results through. And please keep sending them through as I’d like to see this continue. But I need the information to be able to make it happen.

Hope you all enjoy.
