Australia Day weekend saw the annual running of the Kings Royal for Modified Sedans as well as the Queens Royal for ladies and the Junior Royal for Quarter Midgets.
Several Daylesford members attended with mixed results.
Ellen Vagg did an amazing job running in a borrowed Street Stock. That kept breaking down. She did well in her heats with two fifths and even getting a win. I’m not sure if the commentary team will give her a microphone in the future but her heat winning interview was one that won’t be forgotten for a long time. Ellen came home in 5 position racing with a mixture of Street Stocks and Production Sedans.
Rhys Meakins had an ordinary weekend in the DDA85 Modified Sedan. Still getting used to the car he managed to keep the car on the track. In the DDA85 Street Stock it was a different story. Rhys did really well in his heats, even getting a heat win. This qualified him out of position 4 for the final. He was doing really well and had got up to second in the final. This was not to last though, when he lost power steering which put him up into the wall and ended his night on the infield. Rhys has had a ball racing up in Queensland, but it’s time to pack everything up and head back to reality.
We even had representation in the Junior Royal for Quarter Midgets.
Club President Steven Haynes brought his son Zachery up for the experience of one of the best meetings on the Speedway calendar. Zachery had fun racing over the weekend with different competitors. He has already asked dad if they can go back next year.
As always. I can only work on the information I see or have been provided. If I have missed you, please send through your results and I’ll get them included in the next edition.
